The band.

Formed over 30 years ago, The Groovebug is an Ottawa-based funk band delivering feel-good grooves and electrifying live shows. Drawing from classic funk, soul, and contemporary R&B influences, they layer tight rhythms with spirited horn lines and dynamic vocals to create an irresistible sound. Known for their high-energy performances that keep crowds dancing from the first note to the last, The Groovebug has toured Canada in support of their EP “Revolution,” solidifying their place in the national music scene. The band’s enduring strength lies in their top-tier musicianship and collective effort to craft a tight funky sound around smoky vocals, making every show a fresh and infectious funk experience that leaves audiences eager for more.

Our lineup has changed over the years, but every member—past or present—plays a special part in our sound and performance. We’re a family first, valuing our camaraderie and friendship. We play music because we enjoy it and each other’s company, and we feel privileged to share our passion with others, bringing happiness into their lives.
